Sharpe Bio

Dr. Maggie Sharpe

Dr. Maggie Sharpe has been passionate about animals and their care for as long as she can remember. Throughout her life she has worked with many types of animals, and even spent some time working with dairy cattle, horses, and llamas! Dr. Sharpe studied at Purdue University for both her undergraduate and doctorate degree. Prior to her time at Partners Animal Hospital, she spent several years working as an emergency veterinarian at a specialty hospital. During her time in emergency medicine, she found that many everyday emergencies can be prevented with routine annual care and education. Dr. Sharpe is passionate about providing the best medical care for your pets. She strives to communicate clearly, and to include you and your family in every decision made regarding your pet’s health. 

Dr. Sharpe has a Rhodesian Ridgeback named Frank. She and Frank like to explore the city one patio at a time. She enjoys traveling, trying new restaurants, and spending as much time as possible with her loved ones.

Dr Kenne

Dr. Kathleen Keene

Dr. Kathleen Keene has always loved animals and knew from the time she was young she knew she wanted to be a veterinarian. She went to the University of Wisconsin-Madison (Go Badgers!) for her undergraduate degree, where she majored in Wildlife Ecology, and Communications. She then attended veterinary school at the University of Illinois in Urbana-Champaign, where she learned how to treat all shapes and sizes of animals. Dr. Keene believes very strongly in the importance of routine preventative care for her patients and making strong connections with her clients.
 
Prior to joining Partners Animal Hospital, Dr. Keene has had experience in a number of general practice settings and particularly loves dermatology, ophthalmology, and performing surgeries. She also enjoys giving back to the community by working with local shelters.
 
Outside of veterinary medicine, Dr. Keene enjoys exploring the outdoors, traveling, and spending quality time with her husband and two pets- Banksy the cat, and Betty the dog!

James Meurer Practice Manager

James grew up in the near west suburbs before venturing to New Orleans to study Ecology and Evolutionary Biology at Tulane University. After college, he settled in the vibrant Humboldt Park/Logan Square area of Chicago, where he resides with his husband and their beloved Rottweiler, Edie.

James embarked on his career in the animal hospitality and veterinary world shortly after returning to Chicago. Following a brief hiatus, he is thrilled to rejoin a fear-free clinic, where he can continue his passion for providing exceptional care for furry companions.

When not at work, James enjoys spending quality time with his friends and family, often exploring new destinations through travel. He embraces the changing seasons by indulging in seasonal hobbies such as baking during the fall and winter months, and biking and swimming during the warmer summer days.

With his compassionate nature and enthusiasm for animal welfare, James is excited to join and contribute to the growth of the Partners Animal South Loop Team.
